Typical planning elements of the physics of the building are heat insulation and calculations for efficient savings of energy, sound protection (sound protection in buildings and against exterior noise), and room acoustics (acoustical quality in rooms). Thereby, a comprehensive planning process goes beyond the purpose of documents for public-law certification. It has to consider energetic and sustainable parameter as well as the special needs of the users in regard of pleasant and productive room and building conditions.
In the basic evaluation the wishes and ideas of the client are translated in a certain quality level and compared with the given initial and boundary conditions (such as budget, the property, necessary amount of floor space, etc.). With this, expensive undesirable developments can be avoided and a targeted preliminary and design planning process can be initiated. In this process public-law requirements as well as further goals (such as a special funding, certification, etc.) are ensured. On the basis of these carefully prepared design goals the developed documents can easily transferred for public-law certification.
In building science consulting means to ensure quality and determining the plausibility of the planning by comparing the quality requirements of the client with the existing planning. Furthermore, it is verified whether the used calculation model and parameters will lead to the fulfillment of funding requirements or certification goals.
A wide range of building deficiencies is caused by the violation of building physical rules, in both planning and execution. During our evaluations not only regulations and standards were used, but also journal articles, conference proceedings, review papers and any additional studies related to the case. Within the own scope of investigations, appropriate measurements might be used as well. These include measurements of heat and moisture conditions (monitoring of interior and exterior climate conditions, air-tightness, infrared thermography, moisture measurements, etc.) as well as sound level measurements (airborne- and impact noise, reverberation time, etc.). The scope of services also includes the technical examination and assessment of existing expert opinions and reports.
